The Lembeh Strait is located east of Manado. The area can be reached in one-and-a –half hours by car from the center of Manado. The beauty of Lembeh’s waters was discovered in 1990 and the area quickly becomes a favorite destination for every macro hunter who dives here.

Lembeh is known for its muck diving. The muddy, black-sand sea bed is home to a breathtaking number of macro critters. Underwater photographers, don’t forget to bring your macro lenses to Lembeh. You also need to be sure that you have mastered your buoyancy so that you don’t disturb the muddy substrate-stirring up the silty san will ruin the visibility and hamper your search for these natural treasures.

This is the place to find unique creatures such as the mimic octopus, pygmy seahorse, blue-ringed octopus, coconut octopus, wonderpus, frogfish, and much, much more. Multiple species of nudibranch can be found in the area’s 25 sites. Nudifall is a mimi wall where grups of nudibranchs clump together ; a heaven for nudibranch lovers. Divers should swim slowly and pay attention to detail to be sure of encountering the shy, rare, and cryptic species that make the area famous.

When you dive in Lembeh, don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for the area’s icon, the Lembeh sea dragon, living on the coral bommies that dot the Lembeh Strait.
