Jack Point
Togean Islands
The Togeans are made up of of 57 islands of various sizes in Tomini Bay in Central Sulawesi. The There main islands of togean are Batudaka, Togean, And Talatakoh. There are several routes for reaching The togean islands, but the most economic is by ferry via Gorontalo city. There is also a sea route via Ampana, the capital of the Tojo Una-una distric, and the Luwuk-Bunta_Togian routr, which takes you over land. The fastest way to get to the togeans is by direct flight from Makassar to Luwuk, followed by a two-and-a-half-hour drive to Bunta, and then a two-hour chartered speedboat ride to Kadidiri Island where the dive resorts are located.
Kadidiri is a tiny island next to Togean, and is a wonderful place to enjoy the beauty of the beach and the sparkling, crystal-clear, turquoise water. Dive sites are located near the island, only 10 to 30 minutes away by boat. The seascape is a combination of shallow drop offs, steep slopes, several submerged reefs, and a spectakuler coral ‘verandah.
While descending, divers are accompanied by schools of fusilier, snapper and butterfly fish, and colourful groups of anthias that look as if they are performing a welcome dance as they hover above the coral. The plethora of colorful corals and fish found within these pristine waters, where the average visibility is more than 20 meters, has made this area one of the best locations for wide-angle photography in Indonesia.
The shallow water in front of the resort is an ideal place for night diving, home to nudibranch and pipefish, and the odd crocodolefish, leaffish ang frogfish. In the profusion of sargassum floating on the surface, you might also be lucky enough to spot the rare and colorful sargassum frogfish.
Another local attraction is the wreck of an American fighter plane from World War II. The B-24 bomber is still intact, making it possible for divers with the appropriate experience and certification to venture inside and certification to venture inside and explore it in its entirety. If you enjoy diving with schooling predators, then the dives around Una-una Island are not to be missed, where the big schools of barracuda are sometimes accompanied by achools of jacks.
